Northern Education Trust is a DFE approved charity that sponsors academies to ensure that student achieves their full potential. The Trust sponsors 20 academies; 10 secondary and 10 primaries across the North of England in ten Local authority regions. There may be some requirement to travel to academies across the Trust.

The Accounting Technician will be working within the Central Team based in North Shore Academy in Stockton on Tees, supporting and directly reporting to the Finance Manager – Academies. Responsibilities will include assisting with accounting transactions to ensure that the monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts are correctly reflected. This will involve dealing with:

· Reconciliation of the Trusts bank account

· Calculations and posting of accruals, prepayments and journals to ensure that the schools income and expenditure are correctly reflected and updates in line with the monthly management accounts timetable

· Producing monthly budget forecast

· Production of annual budget and medium term financial planning

· Reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, identification and resolution of issues on a timely basis.

· Assisting the Head of Finance with the delivery of other statutory and regulatory requirements.

It is essential that the successful candidate is AAT qualified and will have practical experience of working in a finance environment (preferably in the academies sector), including a good level of knowledge and understanding of bank reconciliations, double entry bookkeeping, accruals, prepayments, deferred and accrued income; an ability to work to monthly routines and deadlines. IT skills are essential for this role with the ability to work confidently in excel to manipulate and analyse data. Good organisational skills and attention to detail and the ability to work within a team.
