Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity for Newly Qualified  (NQT) and Experienced Teachers alike since it will provide opportunities for those who wish to develop their skills, take the initiative in bringing new ideas and play a part in the development of a relatively new, small but  highly supportive school.

Upper Primary / Lower Secondary Team Teacher - Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is looking for a teacher who will be based on its Primary Class to team teach in Years 6 and 7 - but have an emphasis on English

Panyathip International School is widely regarded as an ambitious school – ambitious for its students and its staff - as it develops and grows.

The School's Vision  "Become the Best that You can Be" is its guiding principle and recent developments have shown what that means in practical ways. These include the opening of a purpose-built Primary Campus, just a few minutes from the Secondary School (where the Primary School used to be housed). The purpose built Kindergarten is also very close to the Primary so it is possible to ensure continuity of education through a one-school approach.

In many ways, just like on our other campuses, the Primary School is like a large family; students and staff are seen as individuals and classes are small allowing the team to have a strong collegial approach. By and large our students are keen to learn and teachers are able to teach rather than have to maintain discipline.

Facilities in our primary campus are superb and include a swimming pool, covered court, school hall and a canteen on site. The campus opened earlier this year and has been much praised by parents, staff and students alike for its excellent facilities and spacious teaching and leisure spaces.

Living and Working in Laos  - Vientiane is the capital of Laos which is separated from Thailand by the mighty Mekong river. The border with Thailand is not far over the 'Friendship Bridge' where there are further amenities.

Vientiane itself seems more like a large town rather than the seat of government. It is safe and the people are friendly. There are cafes and restaurants and a range of different cultural opportunities available in the city or nearby.

The airport provides easy access to neighbouring countries and within Laos, for example, the UNESCO World Heritage destination of Luang Prabang is less than an hour away by plane. (The really adventurous can travel there by road or river - though both take a little longer).

For those with a sense of adventure Vientiane is an ideal location to be - and this is a particularly good time to join us as 2018 is Visit Laos Year with lots of cultural and other events.

Salary and Benefits - For the successful candidate our package includes a tax-paid dollar salary (paid in dollars and kip - the local currency), travel/relocation allowance, daily lunch, all work permit/visa costs and other benefits. Specific details will be discussed with those who are short-listed.

Police clearance and other formalities  - Panyathip International Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practices and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. All teachers appointed to Panyathip - The British International School in Laos, are required to provide criminal records checks. Further details will be provided during interview.

You can find out more about the school on our website : www.pislao.com and on Facebook : PISVTE

Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is a well-established International School having been founded in the Academic Year 2001-2002. From one Campus with a small number of students the school has grown to  5 Campuses in Laos.

The School was initially registered as a Private Education Institute by the Ministry of Education and Sports as a Bilingual School as it offered both an English as well as Lao programme, but has now gained the recognition as The British International School in Laos. Over the 17 years, we have grown from a small primary school with an enrolment of 60+ students to the current school enrolment of 1,000+ students, from the Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary, at the four campuses in Vientiane as well as one campus in Savannakhet.
