This is a plan and resources for a French lesson to use with KS2. It involves children learning the vocabulary to describe different regions of France e.g. In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, there are mountains. France is divided into 18 administrative regions. The lesson teaches children sentences to describe seven of the regions. The plan could be used for an individual lesson, or as part of a longer unit on France.

The plan gives details of a starter, how to teach the vocabulary, a reading activity, a speaking and listening activity, writing task and whole class plenary. It is highly interactive and allows children to practise a range of language skills. There is a PowerPoint with images of different French regions.

Resources needed for the lesson are included in the price. They are in the zip file and are:

  • Lesson Plan - 5 pages (PDF)
  • An animated PowerPoint presentation - 22 pages (This is not editable. Please click ‘Read Only’ to open.)
  • Resource for the starter - 1 page (PDF)
  • Resources for the reading and speaking and listening activities - 3 pages (PDF)
  • Example template for the writing activity - 1 page (PDF)

Wrong research. France have now 13 regions since 2016 and not 22.
