A FULL LESSONs on introducing and using dividing into ratio.
I have previously uploaded a fast paced sharing with ratio lesson here, but this is a much more basic introduction, leading up to some exam questions.

Contents of download:

  • Normal PowerPoint lesson with which you can use a clicker / mouse / keyboard to continue animations and show fully animated and worked solutions.
  • Worksheets for examples and exercises (Separated or together depending on how you would like to print for your students). I personally print: Starter 2x2, examples, worksheet 1, worksheet 2.

We are learning about: Dividing into parts
We are learning to: Divide an amount into a given ratio.

Differentiated objectives:

  • Developing learners will be able to divide an amount into a given number of equal parts.
  • Secure learners will be able to divide an amount into a given ratio with unequal parts.
  • Excelling learners will be able to solve unfamiliar problems involving dividing an amount into a ratio.

Main: Walked through examples with bar modelling, followed by practice questions on worksheets. Increasingly difficult questions leading up to exam-style questions at the end. All solutions given on PPT.

Credit to MrBartonMaths and his intelligent practice exercise for inspiration behind Q5.
