Sentence Writing Frames - High Frequency Words and 'a' or 'an' Bundle

Sentence Writing Frames - High Frequency Words and 'a' or 'an' Bundle

This resource contains a set of 26 high-frequency word and 'a' or 'an'writing frames. It also contains sentence writing sheets for the construction of sentences. These frames are a particularly useful resource for students who struggle to master the basics of writing. It provides a framework and scaffolding for pupils to achieve some success in creating sentences independently. Writing sentences and reading them back helps pupils to embed and consolidate high-frequency words which they will then be able to use freely in their writing. It is particularly appropriate for SEN students who find reading and writing challenging. The support of the frame makes sentence writing accessible and gives pupils a feeling of confidence - that they can do it! Often the key to success in getting pupils to write is giving them self-confidence. I have used these frames successfully over many years to get older SEN students motivated to read and write independently. The frames can be laminated and used time and time again. SIGHT WORDS - FRY'S FIRST 100 - Sentences - Transition from reading to writing with these TASK CARDS

SIGHT WORDS - FRY'S FIRST 100 - Sentences - Transition from reading to writing with these TASK CARDS

These Task Cards have been developed to consolidate the first 100 FRY'S SIGHT WORDS which comprise approximately 50% of words in print. The Task Cards complement my FRY'S STARTER BUNDLE which is an ideal way to identify ability groups and begin an Intervention Program. Alternatively, you could use the Task Cards for the transition from instant recall to writing. I prefer to make this transition with sentences rather than individual words. I have used a multi-sensory approach because I find most of my intervention students are still at this developmental stage. I have also developed a Word Bingo bundle that contains four sets of games focussing on each of the 25 words in the first hundred. They can be played with a whole class for both consolidation and lots of fun. Each set contains a blank board for individualisation. It is essential that learners are confident with sight words to ensure a balanced approach to literacy and steady progress in reading. These Task Cards can also be used for intervention or as a group activity in Reading Rotations. I would even add them to a Literacy Centre once students knew how to complete each card.
