Explain your answer. Give an example of how Dave Barry uses language in a humorous way. EXTENSION: What technique(s) does he use and why? Dave Barry also makes fun of Americans. How?

French PAST Tenses: Verbes au Passé Composé avec ETRE, version Halloween!

French PAST Tenses: Verbes au Passé Composé avec ETRE, version Halloween!

It includes a PPT with 48 slides introducing all of the verbs that use the auxiliary "ETRE" in the past tense (passé-composé) with the infinitive, the past participle, clear examples of sentences for each verb. It also highlights the few verbs that can actually use both ETRE or AVOIR in the past tense according to their meaning. The whole presentation is made very interactive for the students to resolve an "Acrostiche" (mnemonic strategy) that will help them remember the list of verbs. It also comes with 2 innovative posters showing the verbs using ETRE and the ones using both ETRE ou AVOIR. Finally, you will also find a worksheet for the students to fill up as you go through the slides.

Inspiring Quotes for French students

Inspiring Quotes for French students

This is a compilation of 25 quotes about the function and value of language learning. One PPT is in French, the other one has the translation in English. These inspiring quote helps students ( and teachers!) to see other reasons for foreign language, apart from getting a GCSE or A Level grade! This is a great activity to do on Language Day. Also to use possibly for the Language Day, are a PPT quiz for this year's Language Day, a PPT presentation on the EU ( with UK still in it!) in French, and another one on the Geaography of Europe

Word classes and their definitions display (French)

Word classes and their definitions display (French)

Selection of word classes/linguistic terms that language students will often come across and their definitions. Definitions are all given in English, with some references to the French language/French examples. This could be adapted for any language, or used in an English classroom! TIP: I have printed these on coloured paper to make them stand out!

Les animaux - le coq: symbol

Les animaux - le coq: symbol

This is a great way to introduce a bit of the French culture (as well as the numeracy component) when teaching about animals / animal sounds. You could ask students to read the text then to fill in the blank/write their own description on the timeline sheet. This is just an activity I have assembled but the way you want to teach it is up to you. I personally like to introduce the animal sounds then focus on the use of "cocorico" and then its origin.
