Clothes in German and Colour Adjectives - A Complete Guide.

Clothes in German and Colour Adjectives - A Complete Guide.

This PowerPoint introduces pupils to a total of 36 items of clothing. The clothes are introduced in 3 sets of 12 items of clothing. In each set there is plenty of practice of each item. Pupils are able to practice answers to question about what they wear and what other people wear/ are wearing (present tense only). There are various activities for them to complete and a lengthy worksheet that accompanies the PowerPoint. Also enclosed in the pack is a word search document. After practicing all of the clothes, the PowerPoint revises colours and goes on to explain adjectival colour agreements in the accusative with lots of examples. There is a table that pupils can copy or it can be printed, as a reference for all future work with colours in the accusative form. There is then a range of exercises for pupils to practice talking about clothes and colours. This is a tried and tested method to ensure and check the comprehension throughout.

German - Simple opinions about clothes Battleships

German - Simple opinions about clothes Battleships

On the first slide, pupils must decide whether the opinion word is positive or negative. Pupils then give a sentence, giving their opinion, to play Battleships. For example, “Ich finde das Hemd altmodisch.” Use that grid reference to reveal a square by clicking on it. If there’s an exploded battleship underneath, that team gets the point. If not, move over to the other team. There are 5 to find.

Clothes 'Follemathiques' starter

Clothes 'Follemathiques' starter

Whole-class activity, which could become pairwork. Instead of saying, for example, “2 plus 3”, you say, “une robe plus des chaussures”. Students’ answers would then be “une veste”, instead of “5”. Make the calculation as complicated as you like!
