Lions informative writing non chronological report and word search

Lions informative writing non chronological report and word search

This animated Power Point resource showcases the lion and informs students about a multitude of interesting facts surrounding this magnificent creature. The pupils learn about the symbolic significance of the lion as well as scientific details. They will discover lions in ancient art works, on national flags and displayed on coats of arms. They will learn the differences between male and female lions and some amazing statistics about these magnificent animals. Included in this resource are comprehension questions, a word search and further information about hybrids such as ligers and tigons. Students have the opportunity to think creatively and produce their own hybrids and draw scientific diagrams of their favourites. There is plenty here to promote further discussion and wider research. This resource would be useful when producing informative writing and non chronological reports. Alongside the Power Point is a word document which could be used independently as a homework task perhaps. All answers are included on the word document. Suitable for ages 10+

#lionopera educational resources

#lionopera educational resources

It is a huge pleasure to invite schools to participate in the second stage of the #lionopera project. Olsen Verlag is partnering with four organisations to bring even more value to schools through this project. The Born Free Foundation, The Donkey Sanctuary and LionAid have collaborated with us to produce these teaching resources about animals, lions, donkeys and humans which tie in with Key Stage 2 science curriculum, so pupils can learn more about these wonderful animals who play a central role in the operas but who face such terrible threats today. With arts education coming under increasing pressure, we need to find imaginative new ways of giving youngsters high quality musical and theatrical experiences, which is why we are so delighted to offer this opportunity to schools free of charge. The resource files here are offered in pdf format to decrease their size, but a Powerpoint version of the main presentations is available on request. LO1; What are animals for? An exploration of why animals exist and their use by humans as pets, working animals and farmed animals, in comparison to the needs of wild animals and the pressures they are under. LO2; Lions, donkeys and humans A visual comparison of lions, donkeys and humans; their needs, body systems, senses and emotions. The resource files are; #lionopera brochure; explaining about about the lionopera and how to get involved LO1; What are animals for ? Classroom presentation LO1; What are animals for ? Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. Learn all about camouflage with this dynamic and animated PPT presentation. It’s a nonfiction resource full of information, photos, illustrations, videos, and fun facts. The presentation is designed for teachers, students, and parents. When it’s over, challenge the kids with some higher-level thinking activities devised to hone problem-solving skills. It works extremely well as an independent reading resource for iPads, iPhones, tablets, etc. The presentation can be read or viewed as an animated digital book. In this informative and engaging PowerPoint presentation you and your children will learn all about… What adaptations are Physical and behavioral adaptations with detailed examples of each Camouflage as a physical adaptation Two purposes of camouflage (to hide while searching for food; to hide to escape from becoming food). How camouflage evolved depending on the type of animal and its habitat Furry mammals employ different types of camouflage than aquatic ones. Four main types of camouflage adaptations Blending in or concealing Coloration – fur, scales, feathers, skin, etc. o Some animals change coloring depending on the seasons o Some can change their coloring quickly depending on their surroundings (chameleons, octopus, etc.) Disruptive coloration – stripes, spots, patterns, etc. Disguise, or appear like something else (walking stick, leafy sea dragon) Mimicry, some animals mimic different or more dangerous animals (some nonpoisonous snakes look like poisonous ones, some moths have designs on their backs that look like large eyes, etc.) Interesting facts and much more When the presentation is over have your kids expand on what they’ve learned with three higher-level thinking activities.
