Colourful Dragon Rhymes - for all ages

Colourful Dragon Rhymes - for all ages

Ideal end-of-term fun for classes of all ages, with scope for physical movement and multi-arts development. Once there was a dragon dressed in red. He liked to stay all day in… - but you can guess the last word, and so can the children, although some may prefer to offer alternatives with other rhyming words. Red is just one example of the numerous colours featuring in these crazy dragon verses, which lend themselves to being enacted, and even sung to a made-up tune, as well as chanted and clapped. Follow on with dragon sketches or try my dragon’s menu for easy, crazy writing fun.

FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW TO SEE MORE OR WATCH US ON THE NEWS ON BBC POINTS WEST 6.6.18 ** https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-44382007 A class assembly/play for reception, KS1 or even KS2! We did this with a Reception class - they were incredible! It ran alongside our ‘Circus’ theme. We focussed lots on The Greatest Showman and the song ‘This is Me’. I’ve included the script, presentation (which includes all music) and some costume letters to be sent home. I added photos of the children to the slide show which made it even better. The slide show has all been set up and timings suited us. We had such great feedback from this production! I hope you enjoy it! (SEE MAIN IMAGE FOR REAL PREVIEW! -The font and pics look a little weird in the TES preview pics? But it’s actually all done in Comic Sans! I did have it all in pre-cursive, but knew that some schools wouldn’t have this font, so changed it all to Comic Sans. Hopefully it should be in that font when you download!)

The Greatest Showman 10 minute medley

The Greatest Showman 10 minute medley

This is a 10 minute medley that I have edited and produced. It would be great for a school performance or an assembly activity. The songs included (in order) are: The greatest show, Million Dreams, This is Me and Come Alive. There are 3 files to this resource: The Song Sheet the lyrics are in two colours, Black for solo singing parts that can be split to suit your group and Blue for the ensemble parts. The Medley MP3 This is a medley arranged by myself, it is a backing track but the original singers remain for the ensemble parts just to give the kids a bit of help. The Medley with singing MP3 I have recorded the song with vocals to show where the solo parts come in. I performed this medley with KS1 and Lower KS2 children. I split the solo parts into 3-4 lines each child, either alone or in little groups. They had no trouble learning their parts and the added ensemble vocals gave the volume needed for the big chorus parts. Please leave a review and happy singing!

KS1 Autumn Poem Lesson Plan

KS1 Autumn Poem Lesson Plan

This KS1 lesson plan explores the autumn-themed poem The Leaves (by an unknown author) which describes the sights and sounds on a windy night in autumn. The drama lesson encourages children to bring these sights and sounds to life, performing the poem using mime, dance, expressive movements, and a sound orchestra! This is a great lesson for linking to a project on the seasons, night-time animals, or for a PE session. It runs for 20-30 minutes and does not require any equipment but needs a hall or large space for it to work effectively. This lesson plan includes suggested follow-on tasks and activities.
