French February Scattergories Game - Février - Petit Bac February Scattergories is a fun game that will get students thinking about February vocabulary and word work practice. Instructions are included. Students will enjoy working in groups and learning together. This activity works well as a literacy center once students know how to play. Please note that this resource includes many references to American historical figures, holidays and general culture. This is a really fun activity to play with your students as they practice and build their February themed vocabulary. Students of all ages can play this vocabulary game. Perfect for core and French immersion curriculums. Players attempt to create answers for each of the four categories for each game on their game card. 4 game cards are included for a total of 12 games and 48 categories. This should be a fast moving game and there are only spaces for six words per category. The MAXIMUM they can write is six words so they have to choose them wisely. Students can be creative and flexible with their answers, but other players can challenge them! 12 games are included with 48 different categories! Just print out the game sheets and you’re ready to go. For younger students you can allow more time for thinking and writing, while older students will love the challenge of the timer. 30 conversation starters and speaking prompts - Vacation

(1)
Want your ESL students to use their vacation vocabulary? This NO PREP activity is a fun way to encourage your intermediate to advanced students to speak more. Just print and cut out the cards or you may choose to project them for a whole class activity or for when you don’t want to print (or don’t have time). You can use these cards after learning specific vocabulary for vacations or as a fun interactive activity on a day when you want to just focus on speaking and reviewing vocabulary in a different way. There are 30 questions in all. All of the questions are asked in the YOU form and require the answering student to respond using I. Most of the questions begin with an interrogative word encouraging more than YES and NO responses. Some questions are in the near future while others are in the past tense. Topics used in these cards: * Means of transportation * Geographical locations * Some airport vocabulary * Travel destinations (beach, mountain, etc.) * Preferences Included: 30 color speaking prompt cards 30 black and white speaking prompt cards 9 ways to use these cards Scoot activity instructions Scoot answer recording sheet All cards are visually stimulating and feature a circle to punch out in the upper left corner so that you can print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and hook the cards together with a keyring. Using these cards this way makes it easy to pull them out year after year to use as NO PREP speaking activities.

Free French School Menu #6 Have a look at what’s on the menu at my kids’ school in France. Cheese every day!! I’ll be adding more menus weekly as I receive them. There are so many things a French teacher could do with these in class. It would be a fun cultural study to look up images of some of these menu items to show students what they look like and if they eat anything similar at their schools or homes. This could lead to a discussion on the length of time French students typically have to eat and rest as compared to students and teachers in your school.

French Freebie: Activity to get your students speaking

French Freebie: Activity to get your students speaking This resource is very similar to another one (also free) in which you’ll have students talking about the house, hotel, vacation, etc. of their dreams. Students will talk all about the house, etc. of their worst nightmares in this one. I like to use these resources one after the other while the content is still fresh, but the vocabulary will change dramatically when students shift from what they would love to what would give them nightmares! This is a no prep, one page activity for intermediate to advanced level students, and the content is perfectly suitable both for primary (French immersion) and secondary curriculums. There are fifteen questions that will have them talking about, for example, the house of their worst nightmares. This is meant to be a paired or small group activity, but it is NOT meant to just have students take turns describing what they would love. The idea is to imagine that everyone in the group is going to live in the house together. There will probably be some things that everyone agrees on, and there will certainly be things they will disagree on. When I have my students do this activity, it’s always fun to watch them debate what is and what is not important. In the end, they can agree to disagree! My students really have a good time with this activity, and I love seeing the imagination that they have! Here are the 15 conversation starters: DÉCRIVONS…
