GEMS American Academy Qatar (GAAQ) is a international fee paying school in Al Wukair, Qatar. Children are taught from Pre-K to Grade 9. The curriculum is based on U.S. national and Common Core state standards and best practice research.The city of Al Wukair has a population of 80,000, and is located on the shores of the Persian Gulf. Facilities at the school include classrooms, science labs, indoor and outdoor play areas, rooftop sports field, libraries, cafeteria, ICT suite, dance studio, multi-purpose gymnasium, and football pitch. In total, the school campus is spread across 20,000 square metres. Extra-curricular activities at GAAQ range from physical activities such as soccer or yoga, to creative pursuits such as sewing, choir, and chess.
GEMS education facilities operate over 250 schools in 13 countries, teaching six international curricula.
