Hummersknott Academy

Hummersknott Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school in Darlington, County Durham with approximately 1300 students aged 11-16 on the school roll.

Hummersknott Academy was founded in 1955 as a girls’ high school and converted to academy status in 2012. In 2007, the school underwent an extensive £15 million regeneration project and in 2023 the Academy joined Advance Learning Partnership's family of schools.

The area of Hummersknott is located in the west of Darlington and has a population of around 3,500. Extensive facilities at the school include a dance studio, ceramics area, recording studio, swimming pool, sports hall and a 3G artificial football pitch.

Success is built upon partnership between parents, pupils, staff and local community groups. The aim is to develop every aspect of the people within the school community so that they can live successful and fulfilled lives.

Hummersknott Academy's curriculum is flexible and aimed at making sure all pupils have choice and can succeed.
