This is a rare and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to take up a crucial role leading on Teaching and Learning. The role has arisen due to the retirement of a wonderful and well-respected colleague.

We need an unusual person who is prepared to make mountains out of molehills with regards to standards publicly but at the same time forge strong relationships with our pupils and families in order for them all to achieve their highest potential. You will need an up to date knowledge of pedagogy, the ECF and a track record of developing outstanding teachers. The hours will be long but the reward will be the chance to work with and help shape our amazing students. They are overwhelmingly polite, respectful, considerate and have a fantastic thirst for learning. They uphold our school motto each and every day and they in return need the very best.

Our recent Ofsted report indicated that the school could be judged outstanding and so we are expecting them back to confirm this view. The report states; “Pupils learn and achieve very well. Pupils across both sites are happy and safe at Barking Abbey School. Pupils are motivated to work hard and enjoy positive working relationships with staff. Students new to the sixth form commented on how welcoming, inclusive and diverse the community is. Teachers feel listened to and well supported.” (Ofsted, December 2022).

Full details are set out in the Application pack including a job description and person spec. If you would like to visit the school this can be done on 9th and 10th February from 1.30, 23rd and 24th of February from 1.30, please contact Mrs Wright, Headteacher’s PA to book a place for one of the sessions.
