This is an exciting new role that will be at the centre of our delivery of the Early Career Framework. The Oxfordshire Teaching School Hub will be partnering with University College London as the designated national provider. A key reason why UCL was chosen as our national provider was the opportunity for ongoing involvement in the development of materials.

It is anticipated that around 300 Early Career Teachers (ECTs) will be enrolled each year, along with their Mentors and so the role requires very high levels of organisation and attention to detail. As a new national initiative there is a significant need for a clear, well-structured and ongoing communications strategy to ensure that schools that employ ECTs are aware of and fulfil their responsibilities.  This is an important time in the ongoing development of a school-led system and we hope that the details included in this pack give significant insights into this opportunity to be part of it and we look forward to receiving your application.

The River Learning Trust is a successful and growing Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) based in Oxfordshire.

This is an exciting time for the Trust. We are currently responsible for a number of secondary schools, primary schools, and a SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) provider; we have a secondary Free School in pre-opening and are in discussions with a number of other secondary and primary schools as the Trust is preparing for further growth in the coming years.

Our Vision

Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At the River Learning Trust we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. All of the schools in the River Learning Trust are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to a series of three principles:

  • Commitment to Excellence
  • Everyone Learning
  • Respectful Relationships

Within our vision:

  • Each school has its own unique character and ethos, reflecting local communities and their needs and priorities
  • The Trust establishes collective and collaborative autonomy where the drive for excellence comes from within the schools, to the benefit of all schools in the Trust
  • The relationships within the Trust ensure genuine and impactful joint accountability – the outcomes for all of the pupils in all of the schools matter to everyone
  • Schools continue to take responsibility for their own performance and character within a Trust context which provides both support and challenge
