Job overview

Take the lead as Head Teacher at Old Farm School and you will be given the platform and freedom to become the Head you have always wanted to be. Located in a rural setting near to Kilton Thorpe in East Cleveland, Old Farm School offers a bespoke curriculum for up to 30 pupils aged between 11-19 years old who often have Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).

Consistently rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted we are striving to be outstanding and can promise you all the support you need to take this school on the next step of our journey. With our support and your talent, together we can help young people to create their own story of success.

We are looking for an inspiring, passionate and dedicated leader who can have a positive impact on the direction of the pupils in our care.

About Old Farm School

Old Farm School was established by Bill Ashton (Executive Director) in 2016 as part of Highfield NE Ltd, trading as Halcyon following strong demand from stakeholders. Bill is an education specialist with over 30 years’ experience in the SEMH sector. The carefully planned rural environment and engaging, personalised curriculum on offer at Old Farm School is tailored towards meeting the needs of children with SEMH. The location, learning environment and curriculum of Old Farm School allows children to revisit those developmental areas that have not been secured and offers them the learning experiences necessary to progress through the stages, which are vital when building the foundations for future development and learning.

At Old Farm School our ethos is that ‘Learning Is For Everyone’ (LIFE). We work together with parents, carers and other relevant stakeholders to teach pupils in a safe, structured and supportively challenging environment, encouraging them to be proud of their achievements.

Curriculums are tailored to each pupils individual needs. We have an individualised approach for each pupil, taking advantage of personalised and alternative curriculums.

We provide our pupils with an accepting, positive and welcoming learning environment, where they are given the opportunity to grow and develop as individuals.

We are extremely proud of our staff team, whose character, experience and expertise combine to ensure excellent outcomes for every child. Our team is particularly skilled at meeting the social and emotional needs of the pupils as a way to engage and then teaching the skills and knowledge pupils need to manage their own emotions and self-regulate their behaviour.

Who we are looking for

To be an outstanding Headteacher at Old Farm School you will be a multi-talented professional, have great understanding of social and emotional needs of the pupils, endless enthusiasm, resilience, vision and a commitment to both the education and achievement of each and every child.

Old Farm School is striving to be assessed as Outstanding by Ofsted. We have been rated as good in every Ofsted to date – the missing piece of the puzzle is a head teacher who has what it takes to be outstanding from inspiring our children, to empowering our team, to every aspect of the teaching standards. It is a true team effort to make the step up to Outstanding and at the helm must be one of the best head teachers in the SEN sector.

Our Total Reward Package

As a Head Teacher you will have an annual salary of £58,135-£73,559, (depending on experience) and company pension.

As a great employer we recognise that salary is important but so is the overall reward package. This is why we also offer a performance related bonus.

At Highfield NE Ltd we are fully committed to continuing professional development for staff members at all levels within the organisation, ensuring we grow together for all of our futures.

For an informal, confidential discussion about the Old Farm School Headship, please contact Bill Ashton, Executive Director, on 01287 655420
