About British School Jakarta

In the 2023-2024 academic year, British School Jakarta (BSJ) marks its 50th anniversary, a testament to its esteemed status over five decades. Founded in 1973 with British Embassy support, it evolved from 'The British School' to 'The British International School' (BIS) and established as a Foundation (Yayasan) in 1976. In 1990, it relocated to a 45-acre Bintaro site, officially opened by Prince Edward in March 1994. Subsequent developments included facilities like the Cafeteria, Art and Technology Block, BIS World Theatre, and the Secondary Library Building in 2009. In 2014, the school changed its name to the British School Jakarta, in compliance with new Indonesian regulations restricting the use of 'international' in titles.
