Job overview

Solihull School is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced teacher of Piano to join our thriving Music Department as a self-employed Visiting Music Teacher from February 2022.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach pupils from age 5-18 and will have a proven track record of motivating and engaging pupils from beginner to grade 8 level.

Our current needs are for two days of teaching per week, though this could be split between two successful candidates if that suited individuals better. We would anticipate the volume of teaching potentially to increase from September 2022. There may well be an opportunity for some small ensemble coaching work.

Further details and information on how to apply are available from our website www.solsch.org.uk/vacancies. The closing date for the return of applications is noon Tuesday 30th November 2021. Interviews will take place in the week commencing 6th December 2021.

As part of the interview process, shortlisted candidates will be asked to give a short demonstration lesson and perform a solo piece on their instrument.

Interested candidates are welcome to contact the Director of Music (Mr Tim Kermode: kermodet@solsch.org.uk) or the Head of Keyboard (Mrs Hanlie Martens: martensh@solsch.org.uk) in advance of making an application with any queries about the post.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post.
