This Year 2 resource pack combines two key small steps from White Rose Maths | Autumn Term | Block 2 – Addition & Subtraction:
- Step 13 – 10 More, 10 Less
- Step 14 – Add and Subtract 10s
Learners practise fluency with tens using visual models, base 10, and 100 squares, moving towards secure number sense and mental strategies.
Step 13 activities include:
- Tables (3 levels) where learners write 10 more/10 less and draw base 10 representations
- 100-square tasks: circle target numbers, colour 10 more (red) and 10 less (blue)
- Fill-in-the-blank problems, e.g. 10 more than 55 is __, 10 less than __ is 33 (3 levels)
Step 14 activities include:
- Visual tasks: “What addition/subtraction is shown with base tens?” – complete the matching number sentences
- Base 10 practice: build on visuals to write and solve addition and subtraction of tens
- Differentiated worksheets (mostly 3 levels) with both chilli challenge icons and plain versions
