Want to develop a strong understanding of shape, space and measure with comparison and exploration activities? These 5 short lessons support the reading of the Maths picture book ‘A Mousy Mess’ by Laura Driscoll from the Mouse Math series. The lesson is designed with early learning goals in mind - so beneath each lesson input on the plan you will find a daily activity task idea to set up for guided play and exploration.

A fun, practical fusion of reading comprehension, Maths and independent investigation, the children will be super engaged with these hands-on and practical sorting and classifying related investigations. A fun way to introduce concepts of shape, space and measure; this lesson includes supporting resources found in most early learning classrooms (see below for details).

This pack contains:

  • Detailed Maths lesson plan for 5 x short lessons Mon-Fri
  • 3 x worksheet templates for recorded work and designed activities

Additional resources needed:

  • The book ‘A Mousy Mess’ by Laura Driscoll (FYI there are YouTube readings if budget is low!)
