French Board Game: Sports

French Board Game: Sports

A game board to practise nouns and simple sentences. 2 versions included for differentiation purposes. Answer key included (so pupils work independently). Great to introduce sports in a novel way- give them the board game and a dictionary and it is a really fun way to challenge them to learn sports nouns. Use it as follow up once you have introduced the vocabulary as it is an excellent way of practising speaking and listening skills. Other important features: pupil independence, pupil collaboration, challenge and competition. I always have 100% engagement when I give them a board game (I have others available). A rewarding way to differentiate- what better incentive to complete the task than to know you can play a game at the end! No need to cut anything- just print. A4 is fine, A3 is great. Add dice and counters. (I get pupils to use spare coins for counters and lots of them have dice roll app on their phones these days if you are struggling for these). Any feedback is always gratefully received and if you have any requests for future board games please send me a message.

French: Sports (Powerpoint, activities and games for several lessons)

French: Sports (Powerpoint, activities and games for several lessons)

This powerpoint introduces lots of sports voacbulary in French. Pleanty of opportunities to practise the vocabulary and play games such as 'beat the teacher', 'hit the board' and 'be the teacher'. There are then lots of activities and games including the ever-popular points game which can be played in teams (and differentiated by doubling points for those that give full sentences etc). Match up included, filling in words, and labelling pictures. These slides can also be printed and used as worksheets. Powerpoint then goes on to introducing fuller sentences giving opinions about sports and then grammatical points. Overall enough to last for a few lessons and then again for revision - games can be made increasingly complex.

PRIMARY FRENCH FRUITS DESIGN POSTERS

PRIMARY FRENCH FRUITS DESIGN POSTERS

French Fruits Posters - Display, Label and Colour! There are 25 fruits posters ready to display - they create a fab French feel to our classroom, and my young learners love to test their own memories during guessing games - we use them for speaking and pronunciation prompts too. The blackline posters are really popular - children love to decorate, colour and label, then put up for display. I do vary my displays pretty regularly, and might have them up for a couple of weeks, then change entirely - I then put them back up again a few weeks later - it’s great to see how children have come on with their recall and spelling. We don’t actually learn all these fruits - I generally introduce about ten to my young learners, but the point of having a wide range of fruits is to promote discussion about fruits we all know, and sometimes we even bring them in - children do notice the different ways of saying the word ‘the’ in French, because here I’m using the definite article, and that’s so useful to introduce discussion about the concept of gender. **The fruits I’ve included here are: ** green apples red apple bananas cherries dates fig green grapes red grapes kiwi lemon mango nectarine olives oranges papaya peach pear pineapple pumpkin raspberry redcurrants rhubarb starfruit strawberries watermelon The posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. This is a non-editable file, and it’s copyright, with all rights reserved - the license if for your own classroom only. I’ve explained everything in my Terms of Use. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPÉTIT !
