Jurassic World : Fallen Kingdom - Disasters and Debate

Jurassic World : Fallen Kingdom - Disasters and Debate

Brought to you by Into Film and Universal Pictures, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom – Disasters and Debate is a cross-curricular educational resource for use with students aged 11-14. It challenges students, in-role as intrepid explorers, to consider the differing opinions about the dinosaurs inhabiting Isla Nublar before debating the varying motives for their preservation on the island. With reference to the PSHE education, Citizenship, Science and English curricula at Key Stage 3 (England, Northern Ireland, Wales) and Third Level (Scotland), students will learn about the natural and human threats to the island and its potential impact on the environment in a range of thought provoking classroom and homework activities. Young people will read and research facts around the ethical implications of human intervention in the preservation of species before preparing for and taking part in an organised debate on the motion‚ 'this house believes that humans should do everything that they can to save creatures.‘ For more educational resources on feature films and to set up an Into Film club, please visit the Into Film website: www.intofilm.org/clubs

AQA GCSE Geography (9-1) Tectonic Hazard Revision Clock Power Point

AQA GCSE Geography (9-1) Tectonic Hazard Revision Clock Power Point

I have created a power point going through the topic of ‘Tectonic Hazards’. This power point is to be used in line with a blank revision clock (also attached). It is for the new AQA 1-9 specification and includes Haiti and Chile as the earthquake case studies. The power point includes, content, ‘over to you’ tasks and exam style questions on each section of the topic. The exam style questions have come from a range of revision guides. I created this power point as i couldn’t find anything like this on TES already, and then felt it was only fair to share.

EdExcel Introduction to hazards (data, multiple choice and celebrity hazards!)

EdExcel Introduction to hazards (data, multiple choice and celebrity hazards!)

This lesson is an introduction to the hazardous earth module to classify, define and describe patterns of hazards over time. Students have to identify the clues given by the celebrities that initially identify the hazard followed by the type and if possible the event. There is also a starter activity that identifies the different hazard types and extends understanding so students are aware of the difference between hazard and a disaster. Students have the opportunity to complete a variety of tasks on the task sheet that is structured in the same style as the GCSE examination paper with the multiple choice and then a data task. There is also an extended activity to demonstrate challenge and embed learning.
