Use of DOP and pronouns in French. using ' dodgy English'

Use of DOP and pronouns in French. using ' dodgy English'

This is a resource that I created to support my year 10 through the use of DOP. They are used to ' dodgy English' and I am sharing this as they enjoyed the activities and gave me good feedback ( it has helped them massively and they are now confident with those ), especially the translation which they used a learning and consolidating activity. I have in my free resources a Power Point you can also access to teach the initial stages and the words for the needed DOPS for these activities.

Modal Verbs Photo Love

Modal Verbs Photo Love

A Photolove story acted out by my daughter and friends , designed to accompany Expo 2 Module 3 and adaptable to accompany Studio 3 Rouge Module 1. This resource uses modal verbs in a narrative scenario for asking someone out (tu veux , je ne peux pas , je ne veux pas)/ giving advice and instructions (tu dois...) . I have also adapted it to use with other course books by removing the section about clothing. Pupils complete the worksheet to ensure they understand the meanings of all the modal verbs and the contexts they are used in - can be done as homework. They can use the completed and corrected sheet as a resource to assist them in the next stage. The photolove story can be shown in class with groups deciding what each character is saying in each speech bubble. Pupils can then use IT to edit the powerpoint in pairs/ small groups. Usually I get them to memorise their script and show their powerpoint to the class while they narrate it: I have done this as a speaking assessment before. Support by cutting sections out of the powerpoint to simplify it and / or giving the modal verbs needed in each speech bubble so pupils only have to find an appropriate infinitive and complement. Extend by getting pupils to add captions to the slides giving expressions of time ("Plus tard...") or commentaries about what the characters are thinking. Make it more creative by asking pupils to use the internet to find pictures they want to use in their own photolove story. Some pupils enjoy staging and photographing their own original version. This imaginative and highly adaptable resource can be used in a one off lesson or an extended project leading to creative assessment opportunities.

Gap fill and error correcting : verbs in the present and reflexive verbs French grammar practice.

Gap fill and error correcting : verbs in the present and reflexive verbs French grammar practice.

This activity is designed to help students to develop their expertise in using the verbs to have and to be in French with correct forms, and to memorise and practise using correct pronouns for difficult reflexive verbs. the red is to support students to find the errors and the green indicates the subject so students can be encouraged to use these as a clue for both the verb formation and the gap fill for the work on reflexive verbs. There should be a fine balance between challenge and support for all abilities in this activity but feedback and comments are more than welcome.
