End of year Year 7 quiz/game

End of year Year 7 quiz/game

These are the questions for an End of Year 7 (1st year of Chinese) quiz. The questions go with a game similar to Jenga which you can buy at Australian Kmarts called Bugs Building. It has 3 colours and a dice with the colours on. Students roll the dice and whichever colour they roll they have to answer a question from that pile. If they can answer correct they can play a piece in the colour of the question they answered. *Could also be used as quiz questions without the game.

Finger family手指家庭

Finger family手指家庭

This is a good teaching resource for teaching family members in Chinese at primary school level. Based on the popular English song 'Finger Family', I have edited the video and put in Chinese lyrics. From this clip, students can familarize themsevles with the key family members such as 爸爸(Dad)妈妈(Mum),哥哥(Elder brother),姐姐(Elder sister), 宝宝(baby)as well as 手指(fingers). Before teaching the song, the teacher can integrate art work- Finger Puppet making into their lesson. After students finish making the finger puppet, they can present a wonderful performance- 手指家庭 tothe school and their parents.

Speak, Write and Play In Mandarin - The Fun Way To Learn!

Speak, Write and Play In Mandarin - The Fun Way To Learn!

* Please note - these resources provide visual prompts, not specific language instruction. I based this teaching pack on ESL teaching resources I had created. I wanted something I could use to discuss different places and locations with my students. The worksheets are in English and then the students translate them into Mandarin. Each of the 57 pages is full of items Mandarin students need to learn the names of. The students finish each lesson playing a word game of Bingo to show they have understood the words used in each session. Mandarin Bingo pack: This is a simple starter game for students. There are 114 different pictures to choose from. Select a single picture and project the image on the wall or share it with the class as a handout. Let's Talk in Mandarin!: This set of cards looks at 57 different settings. The teacher describes something in the top card. The students then use this to model a sentence using the bottom set of pictures. There are lots of things to see and describe in every picture. When the students have completed this task, they can repeat it by working in pairs to discuss each picture. Let's Write in Mandarin pack: There are lots of ways of using this teaching pack. It could be used as writing assessment for students learning Mandarin. The students could write about a topic in Mandarin before and then after a topic, using the second worksheet at the end of the topic.
