Plants: Poison in the garden

Plants: Poison in the garden

A brief insight into plants which although very pretty, hide a dark secret. There are many more plants which are poisonous, but I’ve tried to include the most popular. There are also a few which you would never know they could cause illness. You will probably require the music for this, then just link the two files together http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/Music-for-poison-3007160/ http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/Music-for-poison-II-3007161/ http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/notes-for-music-for-poison-in-the-garden-3007159/

Free Cancertalk teaching packs from Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support provides free teaching packs to help teachers talk about cancer with their pupils. Giving pupils the facts about cancer helps reduce misconceptions and fears about a disease that many children and young people are affected by, whether diagnosed themselves or knowing a friend, family member or teacher with cancer. The pack contains an information and guidance booklet, lesson plans and resource sheets for use with pupils aged 7-16, a classroom poster and a DVD with teacher's and classroom modules.

World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day

The theme for 2007 and 2008 is leadership, highlighting the need for innovation, vision and perseverance in the face of the AIDS challenge. The campaign calls on all sectors of society such as families, communities and civil society organisations - rather than just governments - to take the initiative and provide leadership on AIDS.
