Exploring Careers: 16 Career Cluster Units BUNDLE

This career unit bundle gives students an introduction to each of the 16 Career Clusters and focuses on research and projects to demonstrate what a career in this field would be like. This is perfect for a career, technology, CTE or business class. Each career cluster unit takes from 1-2 weeks and the entire bundle takes approximately 28 weeks if all of the materials are used. All units are available individually, if you prefer. The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be used with high school students. The teacher can choose to use some or all of the provided lesson options included in each unit. Unit plans for the following career clusters are included: • Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources • Architecture & Construction • Arts, A/V Technology & Communications • Business Management & Administration • Education & Training • Finance • Government & Public Administration • Health Science • Hospitality & Tourism • Human Services • Information Technology • Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security • Manufacturing • Marketing, Sales & Service • Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) • Transportation, Distribution & Logistics Each unit contains the following: • Teacher & Student Resources for the specific career cluster: including list of files provided, project duration, materials needed, links to research sites, links to related videos and extension lessons, links to tutorials. • Introduction to the Career Cluster – Editable Microsoft PowerPoint presentation • Introduction to the Career Cluster Research Reading and Questions • Vocabulary Crossword Puzzle (includes answer key) • Job Type Word Search Puzzle (includes answer key) • Individual Student Project (technology based) to research and or simulate the career. These include full student instructions, grading rubric. Resources, samples, and/or tutorials are included where appropriate. • Group Project (most are NOT technology based or just need access to a computer briefly for research) to use critical thinking and teamwork skills in a career simulation. Exploring Careers: Transportation, Distribution & Logistics

This career unit gives students an introduction to the transportation, distribution and logistics career cluster and what a career in this field would be like. This is perfect for a career, technology, CTE or business class. The included PowerPoint presentation can be used by the teacher for whole class instruction, or provided to the students electronically (or as a printout) for them to review individually. Students use close reading skills with a short informational passage to learn about the career field and answer questions to use critical thinking skills and demonstrate their understanding. Two different puzzles are included to learn different jobs in the career and to reinforce vocabulary skills. An individual project to research information about a subtopic regarding the history and development of transportation using Microsoft PowerPoint (or Google Slides) offers students an opportunity for a better understanding of the evolution of this career. A group project is provided to simulate the career of an aerospace engineer as students design a plane with their team, allowing students to utilize critical thinking skills and teamwork. Finally, a short reflection questionnaire gives students the opportunity to reflect and analyze their learning as they determine if this career field is of interest to them. The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be used with high school students. The teacher can choose to use some or all of the provided lesson options included in this resource. Learning about Transportation Careers gives students an introduction to what individuals in this career field do on the job. This is perfect for a technology, business or marketing class, or a class that focuses on careers. Students learn about the career as they research information and create a short PowerPoint presentation. Next, they apply their knowledge to learn more about logistics as they choose a product and understand how it would be transported and stored.
