Babies Wordsearch Pregnancy Birth SRE Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Babies Wordsearch Pregnancy Birth SRE Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Wordsearch on the theme of 'Babies'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

Diwali :: Deepawali :: The Festival Of Lights

Diwali :: Deepawali :: The Festival Of Lights

Diwali :: Deepawali :: The Festival Of Lights A creative way to decorate your classroom for Diwali, the festival of lights. Your kiddos will love creating and putting on their own personal touches on these beautiful Diwali Lanterns. These units are designed in a Mix & Match format. You are able to pick the pieces that you want, depending on the needs and the abilities of your students. There are so many different possibilities. Over the centuries, Diwali has become a national festival that is enjoyed by most Indians regardless of faith: Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and Sikhs. Diwali, or Deepawali, is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that are lit outside homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians Diwali is an official holiday in Fiji, Guyana, India, Malaysia, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and recently Sindh Province in Pakistan.

Key Stage 1: Teacher Toolkit (linked to Target Tracker)

Key Stage 1: Teacher Toolkit (linked to Target Tracker)

I devised this teacher toolkit/handbook for Key Stage 1. It is a complete document (117 pages) that allows any teacher to teach KS1. It also allows senior leaders and governors to see a complete overview of Key Stage 1. It can be used for monitoring, performance management target setting and ensures that all teachers (new and old :-) are teaching to the same framework. My school is 1 and half form intake so it also caters for a 1/2 class. It has been designed to work in conjunction with Target Tracker as this is our school assessment system It consists of: editable action plan, mapped english and maths (white rose hub) overviews, writing assessment sheets, english and maths tracker sheets (department for education), reading scheme assessment sheets, mapped topic overview, medium term topic objective sheets (can be published directly to your school website to show coverage), short term topic planning sheet, maths and english planning templates, guided reading mapped Y1 and 2 objective sheets, guided reading planning templates, computing overview linked to Target Tracker objectives, Y2 Flat Stanley unit planning, Y2 The Jolly Postman unit planning, Y2 Place Value planning, Y2 Addition and Subtraction Planning. It is intended that it can be printed off as one document and then spiral bound. It can also be supplemented with your own school's systems if necessary. Hope it helps! I've added some of the documents as single downloads so that you can see what they look like :-)

THANKSGIVING ORIGINS AND TRADITIONS + Keys

THANKSGIVING ORIGINS AND TRADITIONS + Keys

This lesson focuses on Thanksgiving origins and traditions. It is based on a video with 23 listening comprehension questions + keys. As a follow up teachers can ask students how their Thanksgiving is different from the first one or what Thanksgiving means today. A Venn Diagram could be used to compare modern traditions with old ones, etc.. The questions help non native English students to improve their listening skills and to learn about an American important holiday. It is suitable for upper intermediate or advanced ESL students aged 14 and up, or native speakers who are not familiar with the origins and the history of the holiday aged 12-16.
