About Oxford International School
Oxford International School (OIS) is dedicated to teaching students a Cambridge International education in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is the nation’s capital and largest city, with a population of around 1 million. The school is a member of the Council of International British Schools. Academic facilities at OIS include three specifically designed science labs for secondary students, a primary science laboratory, two libraries with resources ordered from England, cinema, school theatre drama stage, and art room. Some of the sporting facilities are an outdoor astro turf pitch, swimming pool, dance studio, and indoor sports hall.
OIS offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including guitar, cooking, and origami. Languages taught are Kyrgyz, Chinese, and French. Previous years have seen international excursions to locations such as the USA. The OIS Art Week concludes with two Naw Ruz concerts, celebrating the Persian New Year. In Febraury 2017 Oxford International School was visited by Kyrgyzstan Minister of Education, Kudaiberdieva Gulmira Karimovna. She enjoyed a tour of the school and met many students. She spoke to secondary students and later enjoyed some hospitality in the Yurt.
