Varndean School is an 11-16 school with around 1350 students, set in a picturesque south coast location in the vibrant and diverse city of Brighton and Hove. We are a Good (Ofsted 2017) and well-established school already, and we have made rapid progress over the past couple of years and have no intention of resting on our laurels. The potential here is immense and the successful applicant will have a key role in our vision to develop World Class Learning.
We are looking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher who has:
-The vision and passion to develop and lead our Teaching & Learning Team to deliver World Class Teaching to World Class Students
· A thorough understanding of what excellent teaching entails and how best to support colleagues in improving their practice
· A secure track record of delivering excellent levels of student achievement and progress
· The energy, drive and resilience to make a tangible difference as an Assistant Head in a large and ambitious school
· The integrity, moral purpose, presence and emotional intelligence necessary to inspire confidence from staff, students and parents

About Varndean School
Varndean School has a proud history. It has undergone many changes to bring it to where it is now; starting life in the centre of Brighton in 1884 and moving to its current site in 1926. Since then the school has evolved into a vibrant and diverse co-education comprehensive school with a population of over 1400 students and nearly 200 staff which represents the local community it serves.
