Headteacher: Mr M Brook

Due to the promotion of the current postholder, we are seeking an exceptional person to join our SLT as Deputy Headteacher so that we can achieve our aim of being outstanding in everything we do. We are looking for a person with drive and ambition and hopefully someone who might see this role as a stepping stone to headship, but we are also looking for someone with kindness, empathy and a sense of humour!

Lipson is an exciting place to be. We are hugely ambitious and on a rapid journey of improvement as we strive to establish ourselves as one of the very best schools in the region. Everything we do is underpinned by a culture where relationships are key and kindness is a fundamental part of everything we do.

We are looking for candidates who, regardless of where they are in their career, will be able to demonstrate unwavering commitment to raising progress and standards and, like us, believe that social disadvantage is no barrier to achievement and that every student can share in the joy of education and attainment. We will consider applicants with any level of experience as, most importantly, we require candidates who possess integrity, moral purpose and who are learners themselves. A relocation package will be available for the right candidate.

Application details for this post can be obtained from the academy website or by telephoning the academy.

Your completed application form should be returned by email to hr@lipson.plymouth.sch.uk.

Please apply by noon on the closing date. 9th December 2021.

Interview Date: 14 and 15 December 2021.

Welcome to Lipson Co-operative Academy, a school at the heart of its community trying to ensure that every single student is given the best possible opportunity to reach their true potential. We put culture first and believe that everything else follows.

At Lipson we like to do things a bit differently. Kindness is at the heart of everything we do so therefore the relationships between our people at all levels are crucial. Lots of schools talk about the importance of this, but for us it is the foundations upon which everything we do is built. In the classroom and around the school it is the quality of the relationships between our staff and our students that underpins every aspect of our work.

As part of the Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust Our ambition is to raise the aspirations of young people and enable them to become fulfilled, confident and motivated citizens, able to contribute actively to a democratic society. All students within the Ted Wragg Trust, regardless of social or cultural background, are motivated to succeed and make outstanding progress because their needs are met through creative, relevant and innovative provision.

If you join us, you are not just joining a school, you become part of a family. It is a place where everyone is valued and known as an individual. Staff wellbeing is an integral part of our ethos and we are not afraid to say no to the latest initiative or gimmick if we do not think that it will add value to what we are already doing. Our core purpose is to raise levels of student achievement and we will only put our efforts into anything that we believe will have a positive impact on this simple manta. However, Lipson is also about working together and we aim to create an environment where students and staff can have fun, be valued and thrive.

We want our students to be confident, well rounded individuals who are fully prepared and able to play a full role in the world in which they live. It is important that they leave Lipson with the necessary skills and qualities required to make a contribution to society, but it is also vital that they leave us with the necessary qualifications to earn their way in the world.

Our students are fantastic young people and they are rightly very proud of their school. Our role is quite simple. It is to do everything we can to enable the teachers here to teach to the very best of their ability so that our students can learn to the best of theirs.

We think we are on to something special here at Lipson, come and join us and be the one that makes the difference. We warmly invite you to visit our school to experience for yourself it’s unique atmosphere and see the outstanding opportunities we offer our students
