Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, highly skilled and inspirational leader for our large, inclusive and forward-thinking Academy. We currently have 835 students, including Sixth Form. You will work closely with our established and ambitious Executive Headteacher/Chief Executive Officer to achieve continuous improvement and excellent outcomes for our students. This is the start of a new era for Uplands and an excellent time to join our thriving, rural school.

To be successful, you must be:

  • an outstanding practitioner with a proven record of imaginative, successful leadership;
  • able to inspire and motivate students;
  • able to contribute significantly to the strategic direction of the Academy and wider Trust;
  • strong on vision, able to communicate and enthuse staff and implement ideas.

Uplands Academy converted to an Academy in September 2022 and became a member of the MARK Education Trust (formerly Beacon Community College Academy Trust). The acronym MARK was selected because staff who work in the trust are motivated, ambitious, resourceful, and knowledgeable. This partnership will provide many exciting opportunities for professional development and the sharing of good practice across the two schools.

We work meticulously to secure a culture of unapologetically high expectations that are underpinned by our collective, uncompromising belief and ambition for the students of Uplands Academy and for the experienced, loyal, highly skilled and highly effective team of staff that teach them, allowing teachers to teach and students to learn. The Academy is committed to the development of both its staff and students.

At Uplands Academy, the relationships between our staff and our students are excellent and ones that we are proud of. Our staff have high expectations, are ambitious for our students, and they know them well. We pride ourselves on our rigorous focus on the child as a unique individual, including our most disadvantaged and those with SEND. We ensure that the lessons that our students receive are personalised and inclusive, enabling them to be actively engaged in their learning. We want our children to be happy, successful, and confident by providing the best possible education for all our students. We want to be an exceptional educational establishment for our community.

We strongly encourage candidates to come and visit our school. For further details or to arrange a visit, please contact Holly Taylor, Head of HR, in the first instance on 01892 782135 or email hr@uplandscc.com.
