We are looking to appoint an experienced Inclusion Teacher to join our team in August 2023. The successful candidate will be working as part of the school's inclusion team, ensuring students in the secondary school have the required support to maximise their full school experience.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • To ensure the curriculum is delivered in an exciting and challenging way and meets the needs of individual pupils.
  • Actively engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Comply with all Arcadia policies
  • Assist teachers in the development of children’s individual goals e.g. assist with planning
  • Familiarise themselves with and work towards the child’s IEP
  • Set up and maintain appropriate learning environments
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings
  • Support and oversee the IEP writing process. 
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality where individual needs are concerned
  • Encourage open communication between themselves and the class teachers
  • Communicate professionally at all times with pupils, their families, outside agencies and all staff members
  • Collaborate with the Head of Inclusion (and line manager if different) to ensure the above criteria is met

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. 
  • Fully qualified teacher holding BEd, MEd, PGCE, QTS or equivalent.
  • A SENCO or similar specialist teaching qualification relating to the support of those with additional needs.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in KS3 and 4. 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an inclusion teacher, SENCO or other role relating to specialist student support.
  • Committed professional, dedicated to raising standards in alignment with the schools vision, mission and values.  
  • An advocate for inclusive practice, with a passion for enriching the opportunities of all learners.
  • Secure knowledge of the National Curriculum for England.
  • Exposure to teaching alternative qualification pathways 
  • Able to identify and respond to additional learning needs, applying a graduated approach to intervention..
  • Understanding of, exposure to and experience in working with and effectively support Students of Determination. 
  • Skilled at using digital tools to ensure that learning is enriched and barriers are overcome, to complement the schools ‘Apple Distinguished School’ status.
  • A professional who works collaboratively both within the immediate team and across the wider school community.


Candidates who successfully reach the short-list will be asked to complete a task relevant to the role with a full interview with key leaders. Where possible, this will be in-person.
