Key Stage 1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Waltham Forest

£65- £75 per day PAYE

September 2021 – July 2022

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position is Level 3 or degree equivalent qualification. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with children diagnosed or displaying special educational needs (e.g. Autism, ADD, Global delay etc.).

The role

Smart Teachers are recruiting for a Key Stage 1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a small, one-form entry school in Waltham Forest. The suitable candidate will be working on a 1:1 basis with a verbal ASD student. The student requires support during his lessons, with his writing (academically speaking) as well as his concentration levels during class. The student can be taken out of class to complete an activity of his choice once his work is complete; a tactic that has worked well so far with his concentration.  The Key Stage 1 SEN Teaching Assistant will ideally have strong behaviour management skills to help aid their rapport building with the pupil. This would be perfect for a Psychology graduate or someone who wishes to pursue a career in Education. The Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant is likely to be required for providing creative solutions to better translate the work in way that is more enjoyable and understandable to the pupil.  So if you believe you are a creative, patient and enthusiastic individual, please do consider this role!

The school

The school has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and we have received extremely positive feedback from staff who have worked there before. We have also received feedback from candidates who have worked with this student and have thoroughly enjoyed their day with him.  There are many opportunities to progress within the school with the regular CPD courses, whereby the leadership wish to better each member of staff which will ultimately transfer onto the pupils’ education. Due to being a small school, it is likely that you will get to know the staff well and feel a sense of community and belonging within the school. The school itself has a great deal of history behind it and is housed in a Victorian building with reconstructed classrooms in each, creating a modern feel within the building. The school have good transport links and is very close to Leytonstone High Road station, with various bus links.

• Have experience working on a 1:1 basis with ASD pupils

• Able to work 5 days per week – 08.30 – 16.00
