We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Latin teacher with a passion for their subject and the promotion of this important subject. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the highest calibre students in the country from Year 7 to Year 10. 

Our school allows professionals to really enjoy teaching their subject to some of the most enquiring minds in the country. Enrichment opportunities provide a perfect complement to the taught curriculum. 

Languages are hugely popular at Newstead and all students study two languages from French, German and Spanish from Year 7. Latin is one of three additional 'Twilight Languages' alongside Japanese and Mandarin which students can take in addition.

In year 7, students opt to study Latin as part of their enrichment. Students follow an introductory course, before starting GCSE studies in Year 9 and complete the GCSE in Year 10. All sessions are taught at lunchtime or after school as twilight session. There is potential for a great teacher to grow this subject area.

This position would suit a qualified or unqualified teacher/graduate who can see potential in making their mark in our outstanding grammar school and is seeking to ensure this subject continues to thrive at Newstead Wood School. A willingness to contribute to our extensive enrichment and extra-curricular provision is highly encouraged.

Newstead Wood School is a highly selective girls’ state secondary school, with a co-educational Sixth Form. The school is heavily over-subscribed. Students here achieve the highest academic standards whilst also benefitting from exceptional pastoral care.
