Job overview
Our school is a thriving 11-16 foundation comprehensive which is committed to challenge for all and support when needed. We provide learning opportunities to allow everyone to develop their knowledge, skills and attitude so that they can become outstanding young adults. Our culture celebrates and rewards those high standards.
We require an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspiring lead practitioner in mathematics ideally from Easter 2018 although we would consider a September 2018 start for the right candidate. This new post will be one within a larger group of lead practitioners across core subjects. You will have the opportunity to contribute to whole school teaching and learning development in addition to your core responsibilities within the maths department.
Due to the current head of maths taking on greater responsibility within the leadership team as assistant headteacher, this new post has been created within the structure. Our maths department is a strong and well-established team of subject specialists with a track record of good results. We now need a dedicated lead practitioner of maths to take on the challenge of monitoring standards and moving forward with the new GCSE specification. You will be able to lead by example as a teacher and as a manager, to drive high standards of pupil attainment and progress. This post would be ideally suited for those candidates looking for greater responsibility in the future.
We place huge value on staff CPD and invest to ensure required training is available. We are very proud that we have been particularly successful with middle leaders completing the NPQML and teaching leaders programme – with one colleague recently being awarded the teaching leaders special award.
To obtain an application pack, arrange a visit or for an informal chat about working at the school please contact Diane Jamieson or Katie Mcwilliams at permanent@visionforeducation.co.uk or call on 0191 267 6555 or 07713 323792.
Further background information is available on our website: http://www.hindleyhs.wigan.sch.uk.
The closing date is 5pm on Thursday 22nd February 2018 and your completed application should be returned to Diane Jamieson via email before then to be considered.
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 27th February 2018.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will require a DBS check.
