About the role

The role will require the individual:

·       To develop and enhance the teaching practice of others in Science across the Academy

·       To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential

·       To raise standards of student attainment and achievement within Science

·       To help to raise the aspirations of students in the subject and in the Academy

·       Drive the continuous and consistent Trust-wide focus on raising achievement and improving student outcomes.

To assist the Head of Science in raising standards of teaching and learning and achievement in the Science department by:

·       Developing and improving the practice of teachers so that inadequate teaching and teaching that requires improvement is eradicated

·       Planning high quality lessons and leading the delivery of consistently good and outstanding teaching and learning opportunities.

About our Academy

Our academy is named after Sir Thomas Middlecott, who founded the first Free Grammar School in Kirton in 1624, and there has been a school serving our local community ever since.

The academy fosters sport as a huge focus but will also benefit from other opportunities as part of the David Ross Education Trust. This includes new IT systems, unrivalled enrichment opportunities and increased academic expectations.

We are very lucky to be able to benefit from an outstanding sports and fitness centre which has a multi purpose sports hall, dance studio and fitness suite.

Who we are looking for:

·       Degree or equivalent

·       Qualified Teacher Status

·       A sound background in Science

·       Exemplary, outstanding practitioner

·       Excellent classroom practitioner

·       Good commination

·       Effective team member and leader

·       Evidence of professional development relevant to the AST or Lead Practitioner Standards

·       Experience of providing professional development to teachers, including coaching, mentoring and training

·       Experience of preparing and leading training sessions
