Brighton College Prep School is seeking a Post-Graduate Assistant Teacher of Physical Education and Games, to start in August 2023. This is a fixed-term position for one year.
We are looking for a graduate who is passionate about sport, has a love of learning and who wishes to share that passion with enthusiastic and energetic young people. We are looking for a graduate with excellent administrative skills, patience and flexibility who is also willing to undertake essential routine administrative tasks across the whole department.
The post would best suit those considering a teaching or coaching career, although no teaching experience or qualification is required. The post may involve some or all of the following tasks:
- Teaching P.E. to pupils in Reception to Year 8.
- Assisting with the teaching of swimming to pupils in Years 1-8.
- Coaching teams and games sessions from Years 3-8 as appropriate in netball, hockey, rounders, tennis, athletics, football, rugby and cricket (including some weekend fixtures).
- Officiating as appropriate in netball, hockey, rounders, tennis, athletics, football, rugby and cricket.
- Team teaching and assisting experienced subject teachers in classroom situations.
- Running or assisting with extra-curricular activities as required.
- Assisting with weekly departmental administration (experience in using SOCS desirable).
- Assisting with the organisation of swimming galas, sports days and tournaments.
- Undertaking school duties.
- Being a full member of the teaching staff.
Safeguarding responsibilities:
- This role will involve daily contact with pupils, and you will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
- All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.

The school is based on two sites within the vibrant city of Brighton; our Pre-Prep educates children from Nursery to Year 3, after which they progress on to the Prep site for Years 4 to 8. Pupils benefit from use of facilities at the College, including the Chapel, the Sarah Abraham Recital Hall, the dining facilities and the new School of Science and Sport. Our sports fixtures are played at the Jubilee ground pitches located nearby in the South Downs.

THE CITY
The College enjoys its location in Brighton, one of Britain’s youngest cities and one of the most vibrant in Europe.

It is close to the beautiful South Downs, within easy travelling distance of London (about 50 minutes by train), and about 30 minutes from Gatwick Airport.
