Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher with experience in special educational needs? Do you have a strong understanding of the Code of Practice and a commitment to providing the best possible support for pupils with SEN? If so, we want you to join our team as our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENco).
A rare opportunity has arisen to lead our incredible Learning Centre at Wycliffe Prep. Our longstanding SENCo is starting a new venture which means that we are looking for a highly qualified, motivated and enthusiastic full-time SENCo to take over the reins.
We have a superb reputation for our SEN pupils – from dyslexia (we are Crested accredited) to dyscalculia, from social skills to working with ADHD traits. Our SENCo is a key pivot within our staff body – highly visible and essential to the quality of teaching and learning in our school.
Wycliffe Prep is a school under new Leadership (September 2020) and there are many exciting developments which are taking place – this is certainly a school where we are looking forward.
The successful applicant will play a full part in the life of Wycliffe Prep – contribute to our extra-curricular programme, our Boarding life, Games, our Saturday mornings and residential trips. This is truly an embedded role and one which would give an incredible opportunity to an experienced SEN practitioner who wants to step up into the SENCo role, or a current SENCo who is looking for a new challenge.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A teaching qualification and experience teaching pupils with SEN
- Strong knowledge of SEN and the Code of Practice
- Experience in developing and implementing individual education plans
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with pupils, parents, staff and external agencies.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable
- A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of SEN
- Strong management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures.
If you meet the above requirements and are ready to take on a new challenge, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity. We offer a competitive salary, as well as opportunities for professional development and growth. Please submit your application form and cover letter to apply.
