Job overview

We are looking for an inspirational SENCo to further develop and lead inclusion and SEND within our primary school and join our highly committed team. The role is full time with no classroom responsibility however you will work with children across the primary school and support learning support assistants by offering guidance in their roles.

St. Andrews International School Dusit is an Early Years – Primary school located in Bangkok, Thailand. St. Andrews Dusit follows the EYFS and English national curriculum and is authorised by the EDT, ISAT and ISQM. St. Andrews Dusit is comprised of two clear divisions including Early Years and Primary and is further organised by Key Stages. St. Andrews Dusit has a modern learning environment staffed by highly trained educators specialising in the English curriculum, play-based and inquiry-led teaching. The population of the school is 340 with ambitions to grow to 400.

The Post

The successful applicant must:

• Hold a qualified teacher status with significant teaching experience.

• Hold the National Award for SEN Co-ordination or be prepared to work towards it.

• Have experience of working with children with Special Needs.

 

The successful applicant will also:

• Model a culture of excellence while promoting a collaborative and caring atmosphere

• Sustain own motivation and that of other staff; nurture, support and grow our SEN team

• Appraise SEN staff as required and use the process to develop the personal and professional effectiveness of the appraisee/s

• Lead professional development through example and support, and co-ordinate the provision of high quality professional development by methods such as coaching, drawing on other sources of expertise as necessary

• Be enthusiastic and committed to improving educational outcomes for pupils with special educational needs.

• Demonstrate an abundance of energy, initiative, vision, drive and humour

• Have strong collaboration skills to motivate, nurture, support and grow our EY team

• Work closely with the Senior Management Team, keeping them regularly informed of pupil progress, interventions and support in place and highlighting, where necessary, changes and developments needed, liaise and work with parents and external agencies.

• Have experience creating Individual Educational Plans, holding termly meetings with parents, transition meetings etc.

• Have sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.

• Lead staff in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEND children.

• Support the work of learning support/shadow teachers, teaching assistants and teachers working with SEND Children.

• Work with and support parents of pupils who are on the SEND register or have an IEP.

• Be a keen understanding and promoter of wellbeing for students and staff.

• Show cross–cultural awareness and ability to impact the school community by being engaging and visible

St. Andrews International School, Dusit is a small community school set just outside the grounds of the Chitralada Palace. Dusit is a fully inclusive and co-educational school for up to 400 Thai and expatriate children aged two to 11. Since opening with five children in 2010, it has expanded to its current roll of just under 300 children distributed throughout 21 classes.
