Job overview

Wardle Academy seeks to appoint a temporary teacher of English to join our team of dedicated and talented staff.  This is a full time vacancy to cover a maternity leave for two terms in the first instance.  

The successful candidate will have the ability to plan effective lessons, using student data to inform planning and progression.  You will also have high expectations of students, based on a sound knowledge of their prior and potential attainment.  

Whilst ensuring effective whole class, group or individual learning opportunities are available to students’ which engage and challenge all ability levels, you will set high standards of expectations of students’ behaviour through good classroom discipline, reinforcing literacy skills and encouraging a love of reading.  

Wardle Academy was inspected by Ofsted in December 2017 and judged to be good in all aspects. We are determined to carry on improving until we are the very best we can be. An essential part of this is the training and development of staff; we encourage our teachers to seek courses and opportunities which will help them further their careers whilst also providing them with new skills or knowledge.

Wardle Academy is part of the Wardle Trust and is located in a semi-rural setting serving many local communities. The school is easily accessible, within close proximity to the M62 motorway and Smithy Bridge train station.  

We aim to provide an excellent all-round education within a safe environment of modern facilities and resources. Our dedicated team of high quality teaching and associate staff raise the attainment and aspirations of our young people above and beyond national attainment.  

We are a successful 11-16 school with a strong tradition at GCSE, excellent pastoral care and guidance and with an exceptional provision for music.
