Job overview

We wish to appoint well-qualified and enthusiastic colleagues to join our Maths team from September 2023. TLRs are available for suitable candidates who are willing to take on additional responsibilities within the faculty. This would suit a Maths Teacher who is looking for their next challenge and would suit colleagues from a range of teaching backgrounds including mainstream and specialist settings.

The successful candidate must have excellent subject knowledge and be committed to raising the achievement and aspirations of all students. Additionally, they will want to sustain improvements in the teaching and learning of Maths. The department aims to nurture the mathematical potential of every student and to assist in their progress towards becoming confident, autonomous young people. Teachers within the department strive to stimulate, motivate and inspire the students through engaging lessons which draw on active, participative learning. The curriculum area endeavours to foster a positive learning culture, which allows students' self-confidence to develop within a framework of high expectations.

The Learning Alliance has a comprehensive and supportive performance management process, to motivate, inspire, and develop colleagues to ensure that both teachers and pupils can realise their potential. There is a wealth of continuous professional development and networking opportunities across the trust through The Learning Institute, our teacher training and learning and development faculty. The posts provide the opportunity for an ECT or current teachers of Maths to receive the very best coaching, training and experience within their subject.

Collaborative working across trust schools and sharing best practice are highly encouraged, and we have opportunities for more formal training and qualifications through apprenticeships and the NPQ programmes. We are passionate about developing and retaining our staff; we offer teaching and learning responsibility and retention allowances to ensure we remain an employer of choice in the locality.

The trust promotes and prioritises staff wellbeing through its commitment to the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter. A new staff benefits programme has launched this academic year, providing staff discounts in response to the rising cost of living, and offers a confidential employee assistance programme to support staff mental health and wellbeing both personally and professionally.

This is an exciting time in school’s and trust’s development as we explore a potential merger with another local trust, The Learning for Life Partnership, which we believe will strengthen both trusts to better support the education of all children and young people in the merged entity.

To learn more about the role, the school, and the development of the trust, please book a place on one of our open afternoons by contacting Nicki Gregg, Principal: nicki.gregg@sws.cheshire.sch.uk

We will, however, seek a post-appointment reference for successful candidates, which will include questions relating to attendance records. Appointments will be made subject to this reference and the Trust may, in some circumstances, withdraw the offer of appointment on the basis of information received, again having full regard to the requirements of the Equality Act.

The Learning Alliance is committed to the promotion of equality of opportunity and the elimination of discrimination; all applicants should note that they will be considered on the basis of suitability regardless of disability, gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation and marital status or any other discrimination which is unfair or unreasonable.
