About The Perse School Suzhou

The Perse School Suzhou is the first school to be opened in China as part of a collaboration between The Perse School Cambridge, UK and Cheung & Sons Hong Kong SAR.

The Perse School Cambridge is a leading co-educational day school educating over 1600 boys and girls aged 3 to 18 years of age.  It is renowned for academic, pastoral and co-curricular excellence and consistently holds a top position in the school league tables in the UK.

The Perse School Suzhou provides the same high quality education found at The Perse School, Cambridge to students aged 12 to 19 years of age. The Perse School Suzhou comprises a Bilingual Middle School (Grades 7-9) and an International High School (Grades 10-13).

In the Middle School the curriculum integrates the Chinese National Curriculum with a Perse pedagogical approach. Students will have the opportunity to take the Zhongkao (Chinese National) examinations at the end of Grade 9.

In the High School the curriculum is primarily based around the Cambridge IGCSE and International A Level qualification. Students have the choice of a one or two year lGCSE programme followed by a two year A Level programme.

The ‘Perse Plus’ programme of academic extension to extend learning beyond the confines of the IGCSE and A Level Specifications will be a notable feature of the provision.

The Perse School Suzhou is both a day and boarding school and opened its doors in August 2021.  It is envisaged that, once at capacity, the school will educate approximately 540 students which will include a significant proportion of boarding. The school is open to students of all nationalities, but the majority are Chinese nationals.

We share our vision ‘To love learning and strive for the greater good’ with The Perse School Cambridge and a common set of values will define the attitudes and behaviour expected of all Perse students and staff.  We value:

· Endeavour;

· Intellectual curiosity and scholarship;

· Breadth and balance;

· Respect for one another and our environment.

The Perse School Suzhou offers a rich, vibrant co-curricular programme as is expected in a mixed day and boarding school environment with a comprehensive programme of activities including music, art, drama and sport.

The school site in Suzhou holds a very central position in the old town surrounded by local shops and eateries. The campus has a garden-like feel with many trees that have protected status and is within walking distance of several UNESCO World Heritage sites.
