Year 7 Summer Homework

Year 7 Summer Homework

This is a booklet based on the i-spy books where students get points for spotting things in and around their homes and beyond. It covers all the chapters from the geog.1 textbook from OUP, and is designed to be a homework project for Year 7 students to complete during the summer holidays. For each item they find they get points and these points lead to house points, merits, credits, stars (whichever reward system your school uses): I even gave students a certificate for completing it. There are 20 pages which can be printed as an A5 booklet or you can choose which pages you want to use as each chapter from the textbook as a set of activities: my version only has 16 pages as there are some chapters that I don’t get time to cover. There is a word puzzle and a place for the students to keep a record of their points as they collect them, I have a place for parents to sign confirmation that students actually did achieve what they say just in case you get a student that makes it up. There are spaces for images, due to copyright I have removed the pictures that I use, but they can easily by added. The only major thing is the Tourist Information key from an OS map: they will need that.

Focuses on key areas from the Geography curriculum. All activities are research based so would require laptops/ Ipads to complete. Focuses on the countries that will be taking part in the World Cup: locating the countries, capital cities, facts about the physical geography, matching flags to countries. Two activities come with answer sheets, the 3rd activity is open ended therefore the answers would have be checked (perhaps cross checked with another pupil who has chosen the same country).
