La Coupe du Monde 2018 French Resources World Cup 2018

La Coupe du Monde 2018 French Resources World Cup 2018

La Coupe du Monde 2018 Resources Product Description. I have planned this lesson not only to teach vocabulary and facts about football and the World Cup 2018, but also to help the students to respond creatively to their learning and hopefully share their passion for football! The PowerPoint uses matching cards, colourful pictures and animations and YouTube extracts set to music to inspire the students. It is planned to use with students from Years 6-9 (the final task is very open-ended). Slide 2 states the objective: Objectif: To learn about Le Football & La Coupe du Monde 2018 and to respond creatively to your learning. All: Will learn vocabulary and facts and use them to create an acrostic or a calligramme. Most: Will learn and research vocabulary and facts and use them to create an acrostic or a calligramme. Some: Will learn and research vocabulary and facts and use them to create a poem. Slide 3 has a YouTube link to follow to use with the attached worksheet. This uses the official FIFA promotional video and the students tick the countries they see. The worksheet is differentiated with an Extra! challenge. The answers are on the next PowerPoint slide. Slide 5 introduces key vocabulary and can be used with the matching cards. The students should work in pairs/ groups to match the vocabulary and the picture using their previous knowledge, cognates and a process of elimination. Vocabulary: Le joueur de foot Le gardien de but L’arbitre Le stade Le ballon de foot La coupe Un drapeau Une équipe Un carton jaune Le terrain de foot Un maillot de foot Des chaussures de foot The activity is differentiated as follows: All: Match Up! Most: Perfect Pronunciation Challenge! Some: Quick Fire Questions! (Here the students quiz each other: French to English, English to French, spellings, accents……). Slides 6 to 17 show each word and the matching picture and colourful animations. Slide 18 has all the pictures for a quick recap. Then there is graded questioning: Slides 19 to 30 have A, B, C multiple choice questions. Slides 31 to 44 are “What’s missing?” slides. Then slide 45 has a YouTube link to the France 2018 Promo video and students should note down new nouns and adjectives expressing the emotions they see and feel (if they don’t know the French they can grab a dictionary later!) The creative challenges are presented on slides 45 and 46, this is to either create an acrostic, a calligramme or a poem (there is a poem template provided). This information is also on the accompanying worksheets. Slide 47 provides the opportunity for reflection. I really hope you and your students enjoy these resources!

30 French speaking prompt question cards - Le Petit Prince

30 French speaking prompt question cards - Le Petit Prince

Use these insightful and thought provoking question cards to trigger great discussions among your students about the wonderful book by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, le Petit Prince. Use the cards to teach them the vocabulary if you want. This activity is a fun way to encourage your students to speak more and engage in conversation. It is a perfect resource to use in immersion, core or homeschool curriculums. You will have to read and study the book prior to using these questions. You can use these cards after teaching specific vocabulary and grammar for le Petit Prince or as a fun interactive activity on a day when you want to just focus on speaking and reviewing vocabulary in a different way. Read on to find out the many ways I like to use these cards including the popular SCOOT game. Instructions and recording sheet are included. All cards are visually stimulating and feature a circle to punch out in the upper left corner so that you can print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and hook the cards together with a ring. Using these cards this way makes it easy to pull them out year after year to use as NO PREP speaking activities. Included: ➱ 30 speaking prompt cards - color (4 per page to print and cut out) ➱ 30 speaking prompt cards - grayscale ➱ PDF version to project and avoid printing (1 card per page to project) ➱ 9 different ways to use these cards ➱ Scoot game instructions ➱ Scoot recording sheet There are many ways you can use these cards: ✫ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions. ✫ Project the pdf file in class to work in group or with your whole class and avoid printing. ✫ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box. ✫ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements. ✫ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer. ✫ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards. ✫ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized. Full instructions are included. ✫ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move. ✫ Use the cards as an icebreaker activity at the beginning of the school year or right after school holidays. ✫ Great resource for tutoring sessions and vocabulary building.

A Level French - Les techniques cinématographiques - Filming Techniques - Essay

A Level French - Les techniques cinématographiques - Filming Techniques - Essay

This lesson aims to introduce several filming techniques to A Level students in order to prepare them to analyse and comment on a director’s style, in essays. Each plan / filming technique is illustrated with photos, gifs and videos, and all of them have thorough comments in the speaker notes, at the bottom of each slide. Each example comes from famous films and emphasises on the wanted effect on spectators. I am teaching “La Haine” so I also added some slides on how to observe and justify those techniques in the film that we are studying. However, those activities are very easily transferrable to any other film suggested by any exam boards. The full unit of work should last 3-4 lessons.

Green Pen Student Response Feedback starter activity

Green Pen Student Response Feedback starter activity

Following the marking of exercise books, I give my students several personalised learning targets and activities to complete as a starter during the next lesson. I created this Slide which I put up on the board to encourage a dialogue between us and to get them thinking about their progress and what they are still struggling with. (I also used their responses in their books as a way of planning follow up lessons as well as a starting point for my next set of marking). Please feel free to use and adapt as you feel appropriate.

The PPT focuses on revision mainly, with there being a brief summary, a biography on the author, a summary of main characters, a recap of the main themes, information on historical context, the relevance of time and space in the book, a comment on the structure of the book, a family tree so students can understand character relationships better, a comment on the cinema adaptation of the book. There is a translation from French into English, from a literary critic’s blog on the film. This is also useful to the students doing the AS exam as translation will be required. Charlie Hebdo - liberté d'expression - authentic materials - MFL - FRENCH

Charlie Hebdo - liberté d'expression - authentic materials - MFL - FRENCH

This can make up a series of lessons about the Charlie Hebdo attacks of 2015 in Paris. More suited to KS4 and possible a more mature Year 9 group given the nature of the topic and the vocab used. The first few slides are a selection of starters using authentic materials that get pupils responding to images in a similar vain to the GCSE photocard. The lessons get pupils looking at current affairs but also looks at grammar, genuine quotes, and an article amongst other activities such as opinion lines. My classes really found this topic interesting but it also pushed them in terms of language, vocabulary and grammar. Alongside this Powerpoint I have also used the French Netflix documentary « Je suis Charlie » https://www.netflix.com/watch/80079253?trackId=13752289&tctx=0%2C1%2C491adc434dd06655319d9ea4a3625e6e22127a0d%3A5b75458081903e484cb2dc14579e901ead7c8d6c%2C%2C WARNING: not all of this documentary is suitable for showing to students so make yourself aware of the sections that ought to be skipped before pressing play! Obviously as this is on Netflix it requires a subscription and for it not to be blocked on the school IT system. Notes to teacher: SENSITIVE SUBJECT MATTER: Please look through all powerpoint and be aware of sensitive nature of this topic and be mindful of your classes potential response before using.

Market experience- Au Marche

Market experience- Au Marche

This lesson/activity can be approached from various angles. I used it as an introduction to phrasing questions as we had learnt the basic- ‘Puis-je avoir….?’ with classroom equipment. (The latter question was taught using sign language and is very effective with lower ability pupils). Pupils loved asking for food items. You can add a ‘bureau d’echange’ and pretend to swap for euros. This can lead onto a food topic or travelling topic. The activity of a market will need to be set up prior to the lesson and class rules be established. Create incentives which will reward pupils. One year, it was decoding a clue as they visited each shop. Everyone knows their own cohort. I have included some publisher documents which can be amended to create market stall signs. This can be also linked with D & T department. Pupils were looking at healthy eating and mediterranean produces. They decided to make a salad nicoise. I created a basic cook sheet with the D & T teacher and we arranged the stalls to have the correct items to make this salad. So not to waste tuna we provided bags of tuna!
