About independent senior schools

UK independent schools are fee-paying schools that do not receive funding from the government. Children are enrolled into independent senior schools aged 13 and graduate at 18. Most independent senior schools ask pupils to take a Common Entrance exam, or 11+, before offering them a place. Independent schools are regulated by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and pupils will sit both GCSE and A-level exams.
