About Churcher's College
Churcher’s College is an independent co-educational day school offering Nursery, Junior, Senior and Sixth Form education.
Churcher’s College provides an exceptional education for around 1,300 girls and boys aged 3 to 18. Every pupil is warmly nurtured both inside and outside the classroom, enabling them to thrive academically, personally and socially. The school is proud to be recognised as one of the Sunday Times Top 100 UK Secondary Schools.
Located just an hour from London, Churcher’s College is set across two beautiful countryside campuses within the South Downs National Park in Hampshire, close to the borders of Surrey and West Sussex. The Junior School and Nursery are nestled in leafy Liphook, just ten minutes from the Senior School and Sixth Form in Petersfield. Both campuses benefit from generous on-site playing fields and outstanding facilities, all surrounded by open, green countryside.
Headmaster
Simon Williams, BSc, MA, (Dunelm)
From September 2026, and following a rigorous selection process, Will Scott will take up the role of Headmaster. He was chosen to succeed Simon Williams in recognition of his extensive leadership experience and his strong commitment to delivering a broad, high-quality education.
Mission Statement
Churcher’s aims to maximise the potential of every pupil within a happy, caring and well-structured environment. Academic results provide a passport to the next stage of life, but there is a rich spectrum of other skills to develop that are, in many ways, even more vital: sociability, loyalty, commitment, communication, resilience, problem-solving, leadership, creative thinking, integrity, competence and self-assurance without arrogance. These qualities are a hallmark of Churcher’s pupils.
By nurturing the full academic, creative and sporting talents of our girls and boys, and grounding this development in strong social awareness, our aim is to prepare them fully for the dynamic and challenging world in which they will live.
“Big enough to give a broad offering but small enough to know and care.”
Churcher’s parent.
Our History
Churcher’s College was established in 1722 following a generous bequest of £3,000 from Richard Churcher, who left funds in his will to provide an education for ten or twelve boys from Petersfield in the arts of writing, arithmetic and the mathematics of navigation.
In 2022, the school proudly celebrated its 300th anniversary with a year of commemorative events, including the planting of almost 2,000 trees to create Tercentenary Wood.
