Job overview

Working as part of a dedicated Core IT team, you will lead the support and maintenance on our core infrastructure services, ensuring our systems are highly available and at the cutting edge of technology. You will also be responsible for the monitoring of our internal and external security making sure that any threats are neutralised. You will work with other technical experts in the team to keep the systems running in an efficient and effective manner, to drive improvements, increase customer satisfaction and ensure that all our customers, whether they be staff or students, to have the opportunity achieve their potential.  

You will take the lead with supporting our cloud infrastructure for clients, making sure that that their infrastructure is secured to the same standards as our own. You will aid in the design, implementation and monitoring of our cloud and security applications for our internal and external clients. You will be the main escalation point for our MIS and departmental applications, including but not limited to; PS Finance, Parago, Halo and Apogee HR.  

From our central IT headquarters in Sawtry, you will be dealing with 2nd and 3rd line colleagues across the Trust, escalated core issues and supporting colleagues when they are assisting staff and students with IT issues. You will also work across other schools supported by the Trust when needed providing a professional, customer focused service and support.  

You will need a calm and professional attitude to support customers you may meet in person as well as over the phone and by e-mail. You will work with the helpdesk system to report issues, taking ownership of tasks to ensure they are followed up, completed, and communicated with the customer throughout, covering a wide variety of IT areas from local and remote user issues, networking and cloud service queries. This is an investigative and customer facing role, which requires good communication skills, problem solving techniques and a pro-active attitude to work. You will be required to react to and resolve urgent issues as they occur across the Trust, which may involve taking actions outside of your normal working hours.  

You will be involved in the design of systems and processes, to ensure that the central and localised systems allocated to your team are kept up to date, secure and highly available. You will be a central part of these processes, from design through to implementation and testing, as part of our wider maintenance plans including our upgrade and migration road map. You will also ensure our wider IT support team have received the appropriate training prior to the upgrade or migration going live. 

You will become a guiding light for specific technologies in use across the Trust and expect you to be in touch with the latest features, versions and service pack releases for these technologies. 

The job is based within the Meridian Trust IT offices at Sawtry however you will also be expected to have a full clean driving license so you can travel to our other academies and customer sites for scheduled works, emergency call outs and to provide cover for absent colleagues.
