About Maltby Lilly Hall Academy

“Pupils are happy at Maltby Lilly Hall Academy. They enjoy coming to school.” (OFSTED inspection, 2021)

At Maltby Lilly Hall Academy, all our children thrive on high quality learning and experiences to lay down the foundations for a lifelong journey of discovery and exploration. Our eight ‘Core Learning Characteristics’ epitomise the attitudes we expect and encourage of all children and staff during the school day and beyond.

Lilly Hall is all about teamwork and partnership. We welcome children, their parents and carers into a friendly, inclusive, happy, and hard-working environment where respect for others, positive attitudes towards work and behaviour are encouraged, nurtured and where we strive for excellence for all our children. Governors, staff, and parents/carers at the school are committed to providing a stimulating, caring and safe environment, which encourages our children to become confident and independent learners and to respond positively to challenge.

“Pupils benefit from lots of opportunities to develop a strong understanding of their local community.” (OFSTED inspection, 2021)

The Maltby Learning Trust vision of ‘Delivering exceptional experiences that enable all young people to thrive in a competitive world and lead successful and fulfilling lives,’ epitomises our commitment to world-class learning for all. Experiences beyond the classroom are paramount and are given high status at Maltby Lilly Hall Academy, both locally and further afield. Our annual residential trips to Bamburgh (Y5) and London (Y6) provide cultural enrichment and memorable experiences for our children. Other trips or experiences brought into school are linked closely to topic work and regularly occur across school. We guarantee certain experiences in each key stage as

laid out in our ‘Maltby Lilly Hall Academy Passport’ document which is distributed to every child.

Our eight unique 'Core Learning Characteristics' give a clear structure to children’s attitudes to their primary education and promotes behaviours conducive to excellence in pedagogy and are instrumental in everything we do as a school.

“Leaders have designed an ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum.” (OFSTED inspection, 2021)

Every child who comes to Maltby Lilly Hall is unique. They come to school with their own combination of experiences, understanding and learning which it is our job, and privilege, to build upon. We believe that every child has the right to make the most of their abilities and fulfil their potential.

We encourage children to have the confidence to explore and experiment as they work to develop their talents and achieve their full potential through a well-balanced, broad and creative curriculum tailored to the needs of every child. To this end, we have worked hard to develop opportunities for our children to experience learning through first-hand experience as well as using teaching strategies which encourage questioning, curiosity and a sense of ownership.

Our weekly varied Enrichment clubs provide chances for children to experience new challenges or hone their skills in ones they already know.

“One pupil, whose comment was typical of others, told an inspector, ‘It’s good at this school. We all get along well together, we are all treated equally, and we get lots of opportunities.” (OFSTED inspection, 2021)

All children will make progress at Maltby Lilly Hall Academy. We analyse children’s strengths and weaknesses on a daily basis and our teaching and planning evolve to ensure children of all abilities are set to not only progress academically but enabling them with all the skills necessary to succeed in the wider world.
