Here at Hartwell School, we strive to change young, vulnerable lives every day and as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, you’ll have the chance to help us. With your help, our professionals can support children and young people with special educational needs.

You will take lead responsibility for safeguarding within the school, this means that on a daily basis you will be liaising with both Local Authority and staff on matters of safety and safeguarding and will be a great source of support, advice and expertise in the team.

Quite simply, we will look to you to make sure our children and young people’s needs are fully recognised and comprehensively met. You will work as part of the school’s administration team and report directly to the Head Teacher for this crucial role. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other members of the Witherslack Group team in different locations to enable you to progress and develop your skills and knowledge. It is equally important to undertake regular training to ensure your knowledge and skills are up to date and to be able to keep accurate written records as required.

To join us, you will ideally have experience of being in a Designated Safeguarding Lead position previously. Office and administration experience would also be valuable, together with outstanding interpersonal and problem resolution skills. A genuinely empathetic approach is also essential. Finally, you must be ready to take the lead and use your initiative, and you will need a full UK driving licence.

For children with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. With our high staff-to-child ratio and in-house clinical teams, we’re proud to have won a reputation for excellence. Our aspirational homes, schools and ethos help us achieve the best possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

Rewards

We know you’re going to do great things. We offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You will receive a competitive salary, Life Insurance based on two times your annual base salary, 35 days holidays, contributory pension (matched up to 5%) and a comprehensive induction, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme.
