Job overview

This is an exciting and significant opportunity for someone with flair, energy and commitment to join our forward-thinking and expanding school.

The Director of Operations plays a key role in the day-to-day success and continued growth of Radnor House Twickenham, ensuring that business and support activities are managed effectively.

Responsible for the management of the school premises, health & safety, compliance & risk management, and leading a large team of non-teaching staff, the Director of Operations is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), reporting directly to the Principal and with regular involvement with the Board of Governors.

The Director of Operations leads on administration, HR, IT and premises, working closely with the heads of these departments to ensure the effective day-to-day operations of the school, and alongside the Financial Controller to ensure its sound financial management. This is a diverse and demanding role that would suit someone dynamic and inspiring who is keen to get involved and who has a genuine ‘can-do’ attitude.

There will be an exciting new challenge in September 2023, when the Senior School at Radnor House moves to its new location at Kneller Hall, creating the largest independent school site in southwest London and requiring considerable initiative and oversight to ensure the successful management of this significant change.

On offer is a fifty-two week contract with thirty-three days annual leave (including Bank Holidays). In addition, there will be a very competitive salary, commensurate with skills and experience, with excellent professional development opportunities alongside benefits including free school breakfasts and lunches, Pilates, Christmas closure, cycle-to-work scheme, pension and life assurance.

Applications can only be considered in the form of a completed application form which should be returned to hr@radnorhouse.org by midday Friday 30th December 2022.

Radnor House Twickenham is a coeducational day school of 455 pupils aged 11-18 that enjoys a stunning location on the banks of the River Thames.

Our core values of courage, excellence, perseverance and respect permeate everything we do. We create every opportunity for the children to develop teamwork, co-operation and diplomacy, to fine-tune their emotional intelligence, both in the classroom and beyond.

Our pupils thrive in small classes with a strong focus on individual attention. We prefer encouragement to pressure. We stretch, challenge and support every child through inspirational teaching, proactive pastoral care and a wide range of co-curricular activities, including a dynamic and exciting performing arts programme.

A top-quality education and a friendly atmosphere combine to create an exceptional environment with proven outcomes of success, where happy children enjoy a busy, enriched school life supported by an actively involved parent community.

It is easy to reach by public transport with mainline train services to and from Twickenham or Strawberry Hill stations and a plethora of bus services available. All pupils have access to first-rate sporting facilities nearby at Teddington Cricket Club and St Mary’s University. As part of Dukes Education, we enjoy the benefits of close links to several schools in the area and the opportunities of being part of a forward-thinking and dynamic group.
