Job overview

We are looking for an outstanding ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher to join our school. The position will commence in September 2022, the initial contract will be for a period of two years, and the contract is renewable.


In order to fulfil its responsibility, teachers will:

·      Aware of content and pedagogy in both English and Unit of Inquiry

·      Plan and prepare lessons for class according to specified scope and sequence documents.

·      Maintaining class records

·      Class management skills

·      Class ethos of respect for diverse ethnic communities

·      Work with Homeroom to prepare for Unit of Inquiry Planners, Assemblies, special events.

·      Collaborate with all relevant departments for special events planning

·      Attend relevant meetings as prescribed by the school or department

·      Take part in designated school events, as defined by the school calendar

·      Undertake any other reasonable task that school leadership deems to be appropriate

Changsha Wes Academy, located in Changsha City in Hunan Province, China. We started in September 2011 and have continued to grow in student number and stature. The school is now open to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and will continue to grow offering IBPYP, IGCSE and A Levels. In such a small time, the school has become worked on developing an IB curriculum in the Primary. In addition, the school has well-equipped classrooms, a well-resourced sports department, dedicated science labs, music, art rooms and libraries. Most recently the school has completely overhauled its digital strategy to lay the foundations to further its position as a leader in associated technologies in the region. With this in mind we are now the only Microsoft School in middle China and only one of five for the whole of China. In the Secondary section, with the use of BYOD, students are working together to enhance learning opportunities where appropriate. In conclusion, Changsha Wes Academy is fully accredited member of the Council of International Schools.
